On August 28, 2007 we received this e-mail from the owners of Lot # 54:
Hi Grant,
Kurt and I were just watching the video of our first day at OB when you
showed us around (January 2006). It's so neat to look at the lot we
purchased and listen to how we were discussing where we'd put the house. I
just can't believe in less than a year, the house was built! I remember
telling you we planned to wait 5 years to build!
When we were there last week we cut the entire front area where the rows of
pines are with our DR mower. It looks great but I got poison ivy or poison
oak while moving the dead timber & vines off the lot to prepare to cut. I'm
hurting now!
We also set up a Glendale Buck target to practice with our bows. Kurt is
right on every time whether he's at 20 yards or 40. I can't believe what a
great shot he is! I have a nice grouping and am also not bad, I must say,
for a new bow hunter. I was able to get 4 out of 5 arrows in the heart at
30 yards pretty consistently.
We're having so much fun at OB and really love going there. We're supposed
to go to my boss's house on Smith Lake in Alabama this weekend. Although it
sounds like fun...I'd rather be at OB!
Thanks for creating such a great home for us!
We received the following e-mail from Ryan Stormant, son of Randal Stormant owner of lot 37:
Dr. Woods,
Dad has been telling all his friends that he hopes to make the web site. Please feel free to post the pictures. I have never seen him quite so excited. This deer is in fact just icing on the cake though.
Our hunting experience in OB this year has been unlike anything we are used to. I have seen so many deer, I have to pinch myself to make sure it is real. I actually saw two yearling bucks get in a pretty heated fight the other day. Absolutely awesome! Ryan
This e-mail came to us from the new owners of Lot #54 after a spring camping trip to Ocmulgee Banks:
I've been so busy since Kurt and I got back from OB last weekend that I'm just now emailing to you to say thank you for making sure the campground was ready for us! It looked great and we really enjoyed our time there. The weather was wonderful- cool at night. It rained Saturday night but that didn't really interfere with our plans ...
...We didn't get the chance to do much hog hunting. We did ATV around and saw lots of hog sign, of course. We saw many deer and several turkeys (on lot 55) while driving through the OB and heard a lot of gobbling in the mornings while we were at the campsite. A fox came to visit us at the campground and basically ignored us while we sat in front of our fire. The best part, which I never experienced before, was waking up to the sounds of which seemed like every critter at OB! Right at day break, the party began. It was so cool listening to them all chirping, squawking, gobbling, screeching, whistling- and all at the same time!
WE LOVE OUR NEW HOME! Thanks again for all your help in making things just perfect for us whenever we visit. Hope next time, we'll see you there.
The Tucker family of Florida have purchased 2 adjoining lots and plan on
building their "perfect" retirement home. Here are their thoughts on
Ocmulgee Banks:
April 3, 2007
Dear Dr. Woods:
We wanted to let you know how impressed we were with Ocmulgee Banks. It turned out to be everything we had hoped and more. Your web site was so informative, helpful and true to word.
For over a year we have looked throughout Florida for a hunting community such as Ocmulgee Banks, to no avail. Many areas advertised similarities to Ocmulgee Banks but after visiting the properties, we were very disappointed in what was actually offered. We felt we really wanted to remain in Florida but land developers seem to not understand the meaning of wildlife management and land development.
After reviewing all the information Ocmulgee Banks offered and viewing the property we immediately fell in love with Georgia and Ocmulgee Banks. We found that it is a perfectly planned gated community for hunters and their families. The home sites are spacious and not at all cramped together. They are separate from the hunting areas, which have impeccably maintained food plots and a wildlife management program. Everyone associated with Ocmulgee Banks is helpful, kind, and sincere and did everything in their power to make us feel comfortable and informed about the community and property. The tour by Robert Manning was the most complete and informative one we have ever been on. The people who already have property are friendly, family oriented, Christian people who love the outdoors just as we do.
We are anxious to build a home and become part of Ocmulgee Banks and would recommend it to anyone who loves the outdoors, hunting, fishing, good people, and the beautiful peace and quiet of Georgia.
Thank you again for all of your assistance and the hard work you and your staff have put into making Ocmulgee Banks what it is.
Sincerely,
Fred, Jan and Whitaker Tucker
