Even though Pulaski County experienced a record drought, the warm season plots at Ocmulgee Banks were productive during 2007. We are currently busy planning and preparing for the 2008 Spring food plots. The current owners experienced first hand how the deer, turkey, and other critters responded to the 2007 plots. In fact, the bucks harvested during the 2007 season averaged 186 pounds (Click for photos of harvested bucks)!! There is no doubt that 2008 will be another great year.
We expect the herd's condition to continue improving, given the significant amount of quality forage and cover available at Ocmulgee Banks! We have again added the necessary fertilizer to ensure each food plot produces quality forage throughout the Spring and Summer 2008 growing season. In fact, we have now added 2,600+ tons of poultry litter to the plots. The organic matter in the litter certainly helped to hold soil moisture, and the organic nutrients provide plenty of growing power to produce great crops (Click for photos of food plots). Most importantly, the healthy food plots are a huge attraction for the critters. Remember, there are more than 220 acres of food plots at Ocmulgee Banks, including numerous large 'feeder' plots and plenty of small hunting plots (Click for photos of food plots).
Many of the other projects are nearing completion. The fiber optic cable and electricity to each lot is fully operational. The camping area, rifle range, and river picnic areas all were improved during 2007. We are enjoying our new 1600 square foot Clubhouse with the fireplace, two restrooms, full kitchen, and big screen T.V.
We have fulfilled all of our promises, but we continue to look for ways to make ownership at Ocmulgee Banks more enjoyable and your investment even more valuable.
